Flickr mashups

The Flickr color pickr was kind of cool but I was not that impressed. I am not sure how I'd use it, although some of the pictures in the blue I chose were pretty. I tried to use the Mappr but for some reason it didn't work for me.

The thing about Flickr

I started out looking at babies which was interesting because lots of people had pictures of their animals and I didn't expect that. Somehow I came across a picture of someone's journey through weight loss. One thing lead to another and by using tags I was going from one inspirational story to another. I found a ton of groups that people have started to encourage each other through their journey. The people that are encouraging each other have created a community amongst themselves. It's very interesting. I felt like I could go from one to the next all day without ever reading the same thing!

Flicker was fun...

Now that I am nearing the end, and I can look up things that are interesting to me, I am having fun! I looked at a ton of pictures on Flicker. My favorite are the photos of babies. I love the black and white pictures of newborns. There is one picture in particular that I liked the best. The picture is a black background with little tiny, newborn baby feet. I wish I could take such beautiful pictures of my babies. Maybe I can pick up some tips while exploring Web 2.0!

Web 2.0 Award List is my favorite!

So far, exploring the Web 2.0 award is is my favorite exercise! I found a website that I've never heard of called PEERtrainer. I really like the site and I can see why it was rated number one under it's category. I like the short list because, for people like me with little time, it takes me directly to the sites that are most helpful. This is an awesome tool for libraries because it can help save a lot of time and get straight to the information that is needed.

Technorati made me laugh

So, I checked out the popular blog searches on Technorati and I was suprised at what I found. I laughed when I saw that one of the top searches was for Gary Busey. Thankfully, Obama was searched more but still... I didn't know people cared about Gary Busey. I, seriously, need to catch up with the times!

Tagging and stuff...

I read almost all of the tutorials on tagging and I think I'll have to play around with it more to really understand it. We use Foxfire at home so I think I'm going to try some of the tips that one article offered. If I can get used to it, I think it will work much better than the old way of using my favorites.

MySpace Account

I am already familiar with MySpace as I already have an account. I remember setting it up and learing how to add the music and pictures etc... Since I have pictures of my children on my account I keep the setting private. My favorite thing about MySpace is that I was able to get in touch with many of my friends from school that I otherwise would not have contact with. It's nice to see what everyone is up to and how they are these days.
